Everyone Doesn't Need One
Why does everyone feel the need to have a credit card and so many at such a young age?

Credit cards can get you in a lot of trouble if you don't handle them right, and although you may think you're responsible enough, you may not be as responsible as you think. When you're 15, 16, 17, you don't need a credit card really. Especially not a card for every single store you shop in. Its good to have like one card that you only use for gas or something that you pay in full every month on time, to see how you do, and as you get older start using them more.

How old do you need to be in America to have a credit card because it seems alot of under 18's have one. In the UK you can't apply for one until your 18 which I feel is right because if your younger than that you probably aren't responsible enough to handle the consequences and pay off the card ontime.

I agree with you but credit cards are so much easier to use. The bad thing about credit cards is whenever you spend any amount of money just say for example 20.00 well they tact on a special fee with it so it's really more.I hate when they do that so I'm sticking to my debit card.

If you don't have a credit card you can't build credit, and things later in life like buying a car or a house will be MUCH harder.

Think ahead before you act like credit cards are the bane of society.

im 17, and i will probably get a credit card, use it once and then not use it anymore. because the sooner you get it, the better credit you will earn, and the easier it will be to get a loan for a house, car etc. when u are older..

K I'm 19 and I coulda used a credit card when I was 17 but in Canada you have to be the age of majority. Heres why, I moved out on my own, out of province from my parents and I had no credit which made it harder to find a place to rent. It was harder to pay my bills without a credit card so I had to pay a cab to go to the actual places and pay or mail it which then I had to walk all this ways to the post office (or take a cab). Credit cards build credit and when I'm outta university and want to get a house, guess what? They're gonna check my credit rating.

I'm 17 and i don't think i need a credit card, i don't even trust myself with a debit card, like most of us use the parents if we need money or need their credit card but it's not really needed at this age i think

everyone does need one credit card. By the time you are 18, legal adult, and if you don't have any built up credit you aren't buying anything large or moving out without your parents cosigning. not having credit is such a hassle. You can't sign for your own car, you can't rent an apartment, you can't even get a cell phone in your name without someone signing for you. your only 15, someday you will understand when you have mom and dad signing for you when you are 22. Good luck!

I agree. I have a credit card, but only because my mom gave it to me in case of an emergency while I'm at college. I think if want to own a credit card, you should have a good job and be out of school. I didn't want one, but my mom gave it to me.
