I need a job to help out my mom. It's just me and her. Any ideas of what kind of job I can get? The problem is I'm only 13. I was thinking about baby-sitting my neighbor's five year old, his mother wants me to. If I do baby-sit him, what is the normal earning? It would only be under three hours, I think I could do it. I'm a little scared, I never was put in charge of a kid before. It can't be too hard. But then again he is very, very mischievous. But most kids are. I have to go. Any help would be great.

                                   Thanks,
                                            Kate

Well, babysitting would definitely be you best bet. I'm 13 also and I've got that kind of trouble, but I've found ways to get money. I will walk dogs, shovel snow in winter, mow grass in summer, babysit, and I detassle corn in the summer. If you live in a great big city, though, you wouldn't really be able to detassle. Um....I also do different things for ppl at their houses like clean and do their garden and stuff. Overall, in a year I usually earn about 1000$ So yeah, it really helps to but clothes go to the movies and stuff.

The average rate for me is usually $5 or $6 an hour. You really should start babysitting you make good money and if the kid likes you he will want you to come back and feel more comfortable with you. If you are scared what I would do is go over to the house when the mother is there and get to know the kid more. Play with him and get to know him. Then he will feel more comfortable and you will too. I have been babysitting since I was 13 and I :) it. Ask his mother what kind of games he likes, food, etc. before you go over. Hope that helped.

The average rate is about $5 or $6 an hour. I think babysitting would be great. but some kids can be really hard. I currently babysit for 9 different families and I started when I was 13. Even if the kid is bad you will learn how to deal with him. Just be firm from the beginning...if a kid knows they can walk over you they will and there's no going back after they learn it. Be firm, but fun and kind and you'll do fine. The main thing is that if the kid wants you to come back, you will probably always come back.
