CD Mail Scams
Everyone gets them....The letters in the mail which promises them 10 CD for only a penny. Well, I am telling you that it is a scam.  A friend of mine recently fell for this scam. Yes, she did get the 10 CD's she was promised, but she had to pay well over a $100 dollars for the shipping and handling. I mean come on, sure the public is stupid to fall into these scams, but no one really believes that it cost over $100 dollars for shipping. That is where the "handling" part comes is. And other than stealing your money saying that it is a handling charge, you also have to buy a couple more CD's within a year or so that have been marked well over retail price. For example, my friend had to pay about $20.00  for the old Atlantis Morrissette CD. You know the CD that came out like 5 years ago? And on top of that $20. 00, of course there is the shipping and "handling" fee. You would think that the big time music companies would be happy with all the money they are making for the CD sales as it is, however, in this crude world they want to make themselves even richer and they become more greedy. This is a notice to everyone: Beware of the CD mail scams.

I did one of these and although I regret it, I did know what was going on the whole time, I could've easily disregarded all the fine print....but i read it, and i learned that if somthing sounds too good to be true....it usually is!

$100 for 10 CDs isn't a bad deal in the first place! though I'd rather pay 1 cent

Actually, if it was your friend who signed up, then legally she needn't pay more than the penny. Its US law that a minor cannot be held in a binding contract. Therefore, anything your friend signs is invalid. Its a loophole that these distributing companies failed to recognize.

My family does a one for CDs and it works great. The deal was 12 for the price of 1 and we :) it. We get CDs for cheap. Not all of them are bad. Ours is through BMG music. You shouldn't put all the deals into one catagory.

Well it's not really a scam cause you do receive your cd, it's just a commercial stunt
